MEET EMMA

Emma has been passionate about her yoga practice since her early college days when she was looking for an outlet for her high-stress accounting courses. A dream to one day own a yoga business was born then, and the future business name “EBB and Flo” was created during that time (EBB were Emma’s maiden name initials). Upon college graduation and during her CPA exam studies, her draw to yoga only deepened. This ultimately led her to signing up for a YTT 200 hour certification program in 2016. Since then, she has taught at various studios, gyms, virtually, and even her very own backyard (inspired by a need to stay connected, grounded and active during a global pandemic). Most recently, she is excited to expand her offerings to a private space in her town of Branford, CT. She loves her full-time career as a CPA and is grateful for the balance, community, and wellbeing that her yoga practice promotes in her life.

Emma’s personal yoga practice has evolved dramatically over the years. In 2017 she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (Ankylosing Spondylitis) that causes spinal fusion, debilitating pain, extreme fatigue and an array of other symptoms. Countless doctors have been amazed at the physical state of her body given her condition, much of which is attributable to her long-running yoga practice. Emma credits her ability to handle unexpected flare ups and challenges with a (usually) pragmatic outlook to her faith, support system, and the tools her yoga practice has taught her. She believes that finding joy, gratitude, and moments of stillness promote a happier and healthier way of living.

If you know Emma, you know she is obsessed with her Corgi, Zoe, and is happily married to her husband, Shane. They relocated from Maryland to Branford, CT in 2020 and now officially consider themselves to be New Englanders. In her free time, Emma loves hiking, cooking, reading, photography, working out, gardening, and (most importantly) spending time with the people she loves.

Emma whole heartedly believes that although life is a constant ebb & flow, we can learn to ride the wave of life, re-stabilize ourselves, and find ease in the in-between of life’s highs and lows. Yoga has been a master teacher for Emma in the practice of letting go and becoming more grounded, present, and joy-filled. To Emma, a yoga practice is more than just the physical asana practice; it’s a never ending practice to seek balance, spread light, and connect to joy. She looks forward to connecting with you on your mats!
